Firewood Baskets

Well... We are in the heart of winter and everyone is dreaming of the fireplace's warmth   during the chilly days. Personally, I love to spend hours near the fireplace, snuggled down in my fluffy blanket and listening to the flamming logs crackling. But what about when it's time to refil it with logs? Will you let the warmth of your living room to go out to the frozen outdoor? It isn't my best... I prefer to store the firewood in a stylish big basket near the fireplace so as to refil the fireplace easily and add a country touch to the interior. 

Reindeer decorating pillows

This winter/Christmas, I have been obsessed with various things... At first, it was my obsession with those tiny, extra cute bottle brush mini trees. Then, came my love about clay & balsa wood which led me to make handmade charms about my loved ones. And last but not least is my love at first sight with those wonderful reindeer decorating pillows... I'm too glad that I acquired recently two adorable reindeer pillows (just like this of the second photo) for my sofa. Every night I'm looking at them so happy! I feel like I have two real adorable reinders in my living room...

Handmade ice lanterns & wreaths

This is one of my favoutite diy projects! I learned about it in my journey in Rovaniemi, back in 2004. Ohh...It was such a wonderful experience! Like a Christmas fairy tale... 

What I loved there from the first minute, were the ice sculptures that were placed everywhere in the city and they were really magnificent especially during the night (which is so long there this season) that they were illuminated with coloured lights.

After that, I was excited when we lighted up the tea light of our first ice lantern & we created an ice Christmas wreath... It was just wonderful to create those tiny ice objects in some minutes, leaving the mold with the water outside (the temperature was lower of the freezer) in order to freeze. 

Plan a Christmas escape in...

Although it's the last day of November, here the weather is still warm enough and the sun shines! Nonetheless, my mind is daydreaming of cosy country guest houses with unobstructed views of snowy landscapes and an enormous fireplace which warms up the space... 

A place like this, is Teresa Country Lodge, in Eptalofos village near mount Parnassos. It's about a traditionally built stone guest house with wooden additions, which features tastfully  decorated rooms with fireplace and views of the mountain and the garden.

Oh... I really would like to spend a couple of days there, during Christmas period, in order to "fill my batteries" and relax...   

Fireplaces you'll love

As today the temperature is around 0 degrees and it is snowing even in the centre of Athens, the only thing I could think of is the warmth of a fireplace, some cozy blankets and fluffy faux fur throws which transform couches into an earthly paradise, ideal to snuggle on them for hours while drinking a  delicious hot chocolate and enjoying the white snowy view from the windows...

Glimmering houses

They are tiny & they can constitute a unique decorative for our homes, especially during Christmas! Everyone who loves lanterns & candlelight, will adore them from the first sight... Those little houses made from porcelain, clay, glass or metal, impress with their glimmering light and the shadows casted from the tea lights inside them, offering a unique atmosphere, comfort and warmth in our homes during the cold days of winter.

Every winter, when the temperature falls, I start thinking about cozy spaces with fireplaces to warm them... I love so much the warmth of the fire and the colors which offers to the space when you turn off the lights! As much I would love to have a fireplace in my home, I would also love to have a stove... A stove offers such a special style to the space, even if it is a modern one or a rustic! Here you can find a lot of ideas...

Sunday Morning Tales

As I feel lately so tired & the weather becomes colder enough, the only thing I would like to do today, is to stay at home near the warmth of the fireplace and just snuggle up with a warm blanket, drinking a cup of tea, listening jazz & making plans on how I will decorate my home for Christmas, next week...

             

Let it snow!!!

In the middle  of an idyllic landscape covered with a blanket of snow, this wooden house consists the perfect refuge during cold winter days... What I loved most about this house is the warmth that exudes as the main material of its construction is the wood. I like the wood paneled walls painted in dark colors, the open beamed ceilings and then the recycled flooring and the imposing open stone fireplace mentioning to another era! A modern contrast is created by the simple metallic construction for log storage by the fireplace, the leather couches, the cement countertop in the kitchen and the contemporary spot lightning. I really would like sitting by this amazing fireplace covered with  a warm blanket and enjoying the snowy landscape drinking a cup of tea with honey and cinnamon...

Sunday Morning Tales

Good morning my friends... I wish you to have a joyful month! Really, have you started the Christmas preparations? It's only 25 days until Christmas! Yeah... my favorite season of the year!!! Ohh... I can't wait until tomorrow that I will decorate my home with the help of my husband and our beloved ones, in the sound of Christmas songs, drinking hot chocolate or some red wine... Winter sports time

This is exactly where I would like to be today, that it's snowing even in the center of Athens! Near the village of Portaria, on mountain Pelion, operates one of the most challenging ski areas where you can enjoy the view of the Aegean Sea from the track while skiing.

Bedroom: Rustic & Raw

Is there any warmer material than wood? I think it is perfect as a wall covering in a bedroom as it offers firstly an excellent insulation and then adds a touch of romance in the room! Especially if you have a winter house in the mountain where temperature is very low during the most months of the year it would be the right choice. In order to create a rustic bedroom prefer to use raw boards of wood or some tree trunks in your wall covering. A simple idea is to use the boards of old wooden pallets.
