Hillside Apartment

Located in London, this wonderful apartment was designed by Turner Pocock. Inspired by the large garden in front of the property and the natural light which invades from the enormous windows, the design based on a natural scheme with layers of green throughout, using a mix of new and old, luxurious and industrial furniture and fixings, creating a fresh eclectic interior...

Plan a Christmas escape in...

Although it's the last day of November, here the weather is still warm enough and the sun shines! Nonetheless, my mind is daydreaming of cosy country guest houses with unobstructed views of snowy landscapes and an enormous fireplace which warms up the space...
A place like this, is Teresa Country Lodge, in Eptalofos village near mount Parnassos. It's about a traditionally built stone guest house with wooden additions, which features tastfully  decorated rooms with fireplace and views of the mountain and the garden.
Oh... I really would like to spend a couple of days there, during Christmas period, in order to "fill my batteries" and relax...

Contemporary bathrooms which steal our hearts

A contemporary designed bathroom could easily considered in our mind as a strict, stark and cold space, cause of its sharp lines, smooth and polished surfaces... Instead of this, today I present you some super cozy and atmospheric contemporary bathrooms which  have stolen my heart!

Stylizimo House

Today I am so excited as I have to present you an amazing house!!! The new house of Nina Holst, the girl behind the Stylizimo blog. It's about a dreamy house with open spaces and extra wide windows which offer a breathtaking view of its surroundings. The choice of painting almost all of its surfaces in white helps the space to become brighter, while the maintaing of the preexisting wooden ceiling, the wooden floor and the addition of the dining table chairs in the natural color of wood brings  the necessary warmth into the space... I love so much the contrast of black and white surfaces and the green touch of plants and flowers situated everywhere in the house, giving their vivid color and offering their positive energy to the house!

Industrial yet so Cozy & Inviting House

When the simplicity of industrial aesthetic meets natural materials such as wood, the interior of a home can become a romantic and peaceful space that evokes a tranquil lifestyle.
This home is, essentially, one that embodies the romantic image of a life of elegant simplicity and comfort. Its use of organic combined with industrialist aesthetics of subtle brick walls and cool metal tones, invites you to seek a state of simplicity in which happiness is grounded not in the objects owned, but in the stress-free, cozy lifestyle the home elicits.

Plan an escape in...

...Nisyros, where a special house cough my eye!!! You can't but fall in love with this house by the first sight, as it excuses a warm and elegant air from the past.
It's about a 1890's residence's restoration, where the architect and owner George Koukourakis showed a great respect for its history maintaining its main characteristics. These are the original 1890 cement tile flooring which is dominant in the majority of the house's spaces, the vivid palette of colors used on the walls, the traditional wooden ceiling panelling and the wooden openings.
As far as the house's decoration there is an adorable mix of past and future. Old pendant lights are present to every room, an old console welcomes the visitor in the entrance and some meters away they are standing an elaborate stove, an antique mirror and other excellent pieces of another era. All those decorative items and furniture combined perfectly with some vintage pieces or a set of modern tulip table and chairs.
My favorite room is the lemony painted kitchen with its custom made old style cupboards in my beloved color of mint!

KOOK Osteria & Pizza

Kook Osteria & Pizzeria opened in 2012 in the town of Olgiata in the north Rome. The  unique design & decorative ideas of the Noses Architects founded by Mohamed Keilani & Luca Gasparini, has been created a restaurant with a rustic yet industrial style which makes the client feels more like home than in a restaurant! On the one hand the choice of old furnishings, leather Chesterfield couches, vintage decorative items, suspended chandeliers and a Bianchi bicycle on the wall and on the other hand the mix & match of  different materials like concrete, wood, old hand made tiles, metal & glass create a cozy space that offers an atmosphere of cool comfort with a touch of class... What I loved most about this restaurant was its centerpiece; a living olive tree encased in a paneled glass shell, paying homage to the fruit that is so important to the Italian cuisine! For me this is a place where I could spend a lot of hours starting with a lunch and leaving after many hours, late in the evening, having a wonderful time lounging with friends just like home!!!

Let it snow!!!

In the middle  of an idyllic landscape covered with a blanket of snow, this wooden house consists the perfect refuge during cold winter days... What I loved most about this house is the warmth that exudes as the main material of its construction is the wood. I like the wood paneled walls painted in dark colors, the open beamed ceilings and then the recycled flooring and the imposing open stone fireplace mentioning to another era! A modern contrast is created by the simple metallic construction for log storage by the fireplace, the leather couches, the cement countertop in the kitchen and the contemporary spot lightning. I really would like sitting by this amazing fireplace covered with  a warm blanket and enjoying the snowy landscape drinking a cup of tea with honey and cinnamon...

Here everything is for sale!

Many hotels allow you to buy the bathrobes, but how you feel when you hear that everything in this hotel is for sale? The only thing you cannot buy here is the building itself!!!
So, if you 'll go to Items B&B in Belgium and you are madly in love with an original furniture from the 50's or 80's signed by Verner Panton, Arne Jacobsen or Charles and Ray Eames, you have the opportunity to buy them. It's a brilliant idea!!! Each time you will visit this hotel, nothing will reminds you, your previous visit, as everything will be different...

Spanish 14th century restored villa

Spain is one of my favorites destinations and I love also the charming decoration and the design of its restored houses. So, today we will make a mind-trip in this wonderful country and especially in the historical region of Emporda, in Girona, where a lot of the old country houses have been rescued from oblivion by their owners, who love this area.
A house like those, we will visit today... A 14th century building which rehabilitated fully respecting the original materials of its construction. Its thick stone walls and stone curved ceilings (photo 9 & 11) consist an important part of its decoration. The plastered walls and ceiling blocks of the living room are painted in a vanilla hue in order to help the natural light be reflected in the interior and make an interesting contrast with the natural color of the stone walls and the cotto tiles.
What I liked also about this house was its built-in counter tops finished in polished cement both in the kitchen (photo 7) and the bathroom (photo 11), and then the built-in bench (photo 2) in the living room, topped with a beam of reclaimed wood, completed with a mat and numerous cushions, creating a comfortable nook for social gatherings or reading...
Other interesting pieces in the decoration are the old recovered trunk coated with fabric and used as a side table in the living room (photo 3), the old retro leather chair (photo 4), the rescued aged suitcases (photo 6) and off course the stone sink in the kitchen (photo 7).

A Charming House in Costa Brava

In Costa Brava, Spain, it is situated this fascinating rustic house! As it is mostly a summer house, emphasis has been given in its outdoor spaces... I like the cozy built-in seating area near the pool and the large rustic dinning table with the benches in the semi outdoor area near the BBQ. Stone walls, cotto tiles, cement and raw wooden beams gives a charming note to the house, bringing thoughts of old Mediterranean mansions!

A Serene Loft

Today, we are going to visit the loft of a yoga teacher in Belgium. Influenced by her work Elsie, the loft owner, chose natural materials in her loft's decoration, in order to create a cozy and warm space! Wood dominates in all spaces; both on the floor and in furniture, always in its natural color so as to bring to our mind connotations by nature... The color used in the majority of spaces is the white and off-white. The only room painted in dark color is the loft's entryway and the bedroom, where the sweet and natural color of chocolate makes the room totally atmospheric and offers a calm and cozy environment to relax and sleep peacefully. The use of white leather couch, daybed and white plastic Panton chairs, give a modern touch to the Country Chic environment that the raw wooden furniture create. In general, the atmosphere is as calm and relaxed as in a yoga studio... You can swinging in the hammock, listening music, wafting from the bottom. Exactly what someone needs for a harmonious life!!!

Themonies Luxury Suites

In Folegandros, “Themonies” (a word originated from the ancient Greek verb "to collect") are called the agricultural complexes that were forming independent rural entities in the past! These small rectangular stone structures are completely harmonized with their surroundings.
Themonies Luxury Suites is a complete agricultural stone complex of the late 19th century, with its intact “aloni” which was renovated with great respect and amplified with three new stone buildings, to form a contemporary high quality hotel where the visitor relaxes in an absolute atmosphere of  “Cycladic Zen”! Furthermore, their outdoor spaces offer breathtaking views of the city, the Monastery and of  course of the Aegean...
Themonies are combining in a successful way the traditional with the contemporary and the thrifty with the luxury... It's a unique destination to spend your holidays there!!!
