Firewood Baskets

Well... We are in the heart of winter and everyone is dreaming of the fireplace's warmth   during the chilly days. Personally, I love to spend hours near the fireplace, snuggled down in my fluffy blanket and listening to the flamming logs crackling. But what about when it's time to refil it with logs? Will you let the warmth of your living room to go out to the frozen outdoor? It isn't my best... I prefer to store the firewood in a stylish big basket near the fireplace so as to refil the fireplace easily and add a country touch to the interior.

Last Sunday of the year today... and the only I would like to have, is a couple of days to spend them with my man snuggled up in a cabin, where all we do is walking in the snowy forest, making makeshift ice candle holders, reading, listening to the music and relaxing by the warmth of the fireplace, drinking a cup of hot chocolate or eating a delicious piece of chocolate whiskey cake...

Happy Sunday...!!! It's about two weeks before Christmas and the festive preparations are in progress... 

Our homes are already decorated, we are thinking for the presents we 'll buy or make for our beloved ones and those days festive smells will flood our homes as we will bake traditional Christmas sweets!

Oh... I really love this period! I love the evening gatherings around the fireplace with a cup of  aromatic tea (I like apple-cinnamon) and a slice of chocolate bundt cake with orange and rosemary, while a natural air freshner will make home smell like Christmas!!!

These festive days everyone need for warmth and hospitality... We all love the warmth of a mantel or a fireplace, so as to relax near by, drinking a hot chocolate or a glass of wine. In every living room which features one, it always becomes the centerpiece of the space, combined with the christmas tree and all the decorations relolve around it, giving the space extra coziness...

Although it's the last day of November, here the weather is still warm enough and the sun shines! Nonetheless, my mind is daydreaming of cosy country guest houses with unobstructed views of snowy landscapes and an enormous fireplace which warms up the space... 

A place like this, is Teresa Country Lodge, in Eptalofos village near mount Parnassos. It's about a traditionally built stone guest house with wooden additions, which features tastfully  decorated rooms with fireplace and views of the mountain and the garden.

Oh... I really would like to spend a couple of days there, during Christmas period, in order to "fill my batteries" and relax...

As today the temperature is around 0 degrees and it is snowing even in the centre of Athens, the only thing I could think of is the warmth of a fireplace, some cozy blankets and fluffy faux fur throws which transform couches into an earthly paradise, ideal to snuggle on them for hours while drinking a  delicious hot chocolate and enjoying the white snowy view from the windows...

Black apartment with white hues

Could you ever live in a totally black apartment? I generally love dark colors but I couldn't imagine I could live in a space painted in black color until I first saw this overall black apartment! Especially the kitchen caught my attention...The combination of the white counter and its black surrounding is just perfect and those black handmade tiles are really lovely!!!

Family home in the heart of the nature

This dreamy home is owned by a Norwegian family who decided to move to the Italian countryside near a lake... After a thorough renovation, the owners respecting the character of the old construction and maintaining the old details which made it a unique rustic house, they created an amazingly renovated country house ideal to accommodate a family! What I loved most about this house is its living room with the unique glass roof which in combination with the floor to ceiling opening, gives you the  impression that you are sitting outside while you enjoy the fireplace's warmth!!! A house with enormous yet cozy  internal spaces due to the use of natural materials and colors such as the wooden  off-white beams, the stone wall and the grey cement floors covered with hand made kelims and cow skins for more warmth. And what about the claw foot bathtub in front of the large opening with this breathtaking view to the garden? I would really like to spend some days in this tiny paradise...!!! You?

Let it snow!!!

In the middle  of an idyllic landscape covered with a blanket of snow, this wooden house consists the perfect refuge during cold winter days... What I loved most about this house is the warmth that exudes as the main material of its construction is the wood. I like the wood paneled walls painted in dark colors, the open beamed ceilings and then the recycled flooring and the imposing open stone fireplace mentioning to another era! A modern contrast is created by the simple metallic construction for log storage by the fireplace, the leather couches, the cement countertop in the kitchen and the contemporary spot lightning. I really would like sitting by this amazing fireplace covered with  a warm blanket and enjoying the snowy landscape drinking a cup of tea with honey and cinnamon...

I 'd really love to pass some days in a log cabin like this, situated in a snowy mountain village… There is nothing best than spending those days far away from the city centre, in a cozy place which will help you free your mind from the everyday problems!

French Farmhouse

Today, we are going to visit a reconstructed French farmhouse, in Dordogne which is owned by a British couple who live here with their two daughters. They tried hard to maintain the original character of the construction! The walls and beamed ceilings are original while the fireplaces and stone floors were reconstructed to blend in the original features. 

As concern as the decoration, the owners chose to equip their house with cozy off-white sofas and armchairs, combined with old rustic furniture found in the local market and fur carpets in the floor for more warmth! 

In the kitchen there is a touch of modern in the rustic background, by the use of inox and plastic.... I believe that they perfectly macht each other!!! In the other hand, in the bedrooms' atmosphere there is so much romance by the use of the old metalic beds!

My favorite nook of the house is the room with the stove... I imagined myself sitting in that comfortable leather armchair (photo no5) near the warmth of the stove and drinking a cup of hot chocolate while gazing the landscape from the balcony doors. Just amazing!!!

Sunday Morning Tales

Good morning my friends... I wish you to have a joyful month! Really, have you started the Christmas preparations? It's only 25 days until Christmas! Yeah... my favorite season of the year!!! Ohh... I can't wait until tomorrow that I will decorate my home with the help of my husband and our beloved ones, in the sound of Christmas songs, drinking hot chocolate or some red wine... A sunny autumn Sunday is the perfect day for making a promenade in the forest and let your mind feel free from the everyday problems and stress... There is nothing better from walking through the trees, hearing the nature's sounds and admiring the amazing pallet of fall colors in the trees' leaves! And after that long walk, I couldn't imagine nothing else but drinking a hot chocolate near the fireplace and chit chat with good company!

Unfortunately, I am very busy today... So, I am just daydreaming and I hope to be free next Sunday.

This is a really cozy place to spent your weekends.... A traditional construction with bold stone walls, build-in bathroom equipment and beds (ohhh.... I love so much the bedroom of the 6th photo) and off course an enormous fireplace in the living room that offers its warmth into the space during the cold days and nights! 

Look at that amazing hanging chair near the fireplace... It looks so comfortable and inviting! I'd like sitting there right now!!!

What I like also with this house is the vivid colors used in throws, pillows and towels which create a very interesting contrast with the natural colors used in the construction and the furnishings.

A totally modern home in design can seem so cozy... I love the twin round, tube like windows which have been transformed into a super duper comfortable nook for relaxation while you can gazing at the garden or enjoying the warmth of the central round fireplace, during the cold months of the year!

Aenaon Villas

Today is the last day of Spring but in this small part of the world we feel like summer is here since the first days of May.... So, I have already the need of a break for holidays and I am dreaming all day long of beautiful Greek islands and their magnificent beaches!!! 

I would like to spend my weekend in this amazing property in Santorini gazing for hours at that breathtaking view, sunbathing and relaxing.... What do you think?
