Japandi Style

If Scandinavian decoration attracts you but you feel that you would like some extra soul into your space, then the Japandi style is what you are searching for!
The Japandi term was born from the contraction of the words Japan and Scandi and it reflects the successful mix of these two beloved styles of decoration. It's about a clever mix between the Scandinavian way of life and Japanese aesthetics. The use of neutral colors, natural materials and functional furniture with organic shapes offers a warm atmosphere and bring pleasure and calmness to the senses.

My home's renovation...

This is the season that every year I am in the mood of making some changes on my home's decoration... Especially this year, the desire for changes was more intense for me.
So, I was planning some changes in the color of the walls, some addings in the furniture or rearranging the decoration of some spaces.
Firstly, I wanted so much to renovate my bedroom giving it a romantic accent and making it more cozy and hospitable... and then I felt that it was the right time to put some fresh air in my living room. The space where we spend many hours each day...
I was really happy when I discovered Photowall Sweden, where I found out the perfect wallpapers for my home.
I chose a romantic vintage floral wallpaper for the bedroom, which fits perfectly with the decoration of the room and a watercolor like wallpaper in green hues for the living room, which totally matched with the ethnic pendant lights and the rustic coffe table.
I am so excited with the result!!! I had never put up a wallpaper before, but the video tutorial and the clear instructions helped me get the perfect result.
If you like it too and you are in the mood for some changes in your home's decoration, you can now take your own Photowall wallpapers with an  exclusive discount of 25% on their complete selection, using the code ideabygs2021, for a whole month, as much as you want!!
I hope you will enjoy it as much as I did!!!

Tainaron Blue Retreat

In the southernmost geographical point of mainland Europe, in the Cape Tainaron in Greece, a beautiful restored 19th century stone tower, has been transformed into a luxury traditional hotel which has lately opened its doors to the public.
It is situated in a unique place where the rough rocky landscape meets the tranquillity of the sea and the endless sky.
What I loved most about it, is its bold stone walls combined with cement surfaces, wood in its natural color and contemporary design furnitures.

Family home in the heart of the nature

This dreamy home is owned by a Norwegian family who decided to move to the Italian countryside near a lake... After a thorough renovation, the owners respecting the character of the old construction and maintaining the old details which made it a unique rustic house, they created an amazingly renovated country house ideal to accommodate a family! What I loved most about this house is its living room with the unique glass roof which in combination with the floor to ceiling opening, gives you the  impression that you are sitting outside while you enjoy the fireplace's warmth!!! A house with enormous yet cozy  internal spaces due to the use of natural materials and colors such as the wooden  off-white beams, the stone wall and the grey cement floors covered with hand made kelims and cow skins for more warmth. And what about the claw foot bathtub in front of the large opening with this breathtaking view to the garden? I would really like to spend some days in this tiny paradise...!!! You?

Deep Blue

Well, today I 'm going to present you one of my favorite colors... Deep blue!!! A color which fits perfectly both with earthy and warm hues like chocolate brown and deep orange, for a more cozy result or with white hues for a totally island look. You can use it to paint a wall in a room (not all of them because it' s too dark) in order to focus on it, making it the center of interest with a lot of paintings with special frames or by placing in front of it an antique furniture... Deep blue will highlight it perfectly!
Then, it is lovely to use it in your kitchen's cabinets, but be careful with the materials you will use for the walls and the floor. I will recommend you the mixing of bright shades and wood in its natural color.
In the other hand, if you are afraid to use such a strong color in a large surface, use it in decorative items(vases, candles, a piece of art, kitchenware, etc.), furniture or linens for your bed and sofas.

Rustic house with ethnic touches

This is a really cozy place to spent your weekends.... A traditional construction with bold stone walls, build-in bathroom equipment and beds (ohhh.... I love so much the bedroom of the 6th photo) and off course an enormous fireplace in the living room that offers its warmth into the space during the cold days and nights!
Look at that amazing hanging chair near the fireplace... It looks so comfortable and inviting! I'd like sitting there right now!!!
What I like also with this house is the vivid colors used in throws, pillows and towels which create a very interesting contrast with the natural colors used in the construction and the furnishings.

Meditation Room

Mmm.... It's time for meditation! Here it is a cozy room to help you relax after a tough day... Natural color in the walls, wood everywhere, a straw carpet, a mattress on the floor with big pillows, open windows to feel near the natural environment, light linen fabrics and plants around the room compose the ideal zen decoration!!!

Dream house in just 35s.m.

Today I'm going to present you a sweet, tiny, traditional country house of 35s.m., in Peloponnese, Greece. It is entirely constructed by stone by the local workmen, so as to be harmonized with the natural surrounding and the rest houses of the village.
As it is mostly, a weekend summer house, the owners where interested to have a spacious and functional outdoor which could host a lot of people all day long. They built an exterior kitchen with a traditional oven, bbq and a 3 meters long dining table with plants in its middle, perfect for gatherings with friends.... And for those who would like to take a rest in the middle of the hot summer days, a dreamy traditional metallic bed with a mosquito-net is waiting them in the backyard's tree shade...Ohhh, the best place to sleep...believe me!!!
I love also some smart decoration details, such as the use of the barn doors instead of the classic shutters, the repurposed chair which is used as a shelf in the outdoor kitchen and the little round chalkboard table!
What do you think about it?

Casa Olivi

Today we are going to admire a great restoration in Italy... The architects Wespi and de Meuron achieved to transform an old farm into a modern temple of  less is more! They respected the building and they highlighted its unique beauty using natural materials as terracotta tiles, red brick, cement and raw wood so as to be harmonised with its fantastic surroundings, whereas they choosed modern piecies to decorate its interior and exterior spaces. I found perfect the combination of the inox island in the kitchen, in front of the stone wall.

Exquisite Surfaces

A residence designed in an absolutely modern Architecture, where concrete and glass are the main materials, can easily turn into a very cozy and warm home. By using furniture in earthy colors and adding touches of a warm color as the orange in accessories, you will create a nest of relaxation! I like the bookshelves near the concrete fireplace, the bold marble furniture (coffee table, side table and console), the Barcelona chairs and ottoman and this marvelous handmade carpet.

Charming Rustic House

In Girona, Spain it is located this delightful residence, which combines in a successful way contemporary style with tradition. It is based in the use of natural materials in its construction, using them in their natural colors, as the walls with exposed stones and the wooden roofs and floors. In order to balance the final impression and give a modern touch in the space, a lot of metallic construction and furniture have been added, as the metallic round stair and the energy fireplace in the living room. In the kitchen the modern inox appliances and the black tile in the floor are combined in an excellent way with the cement wall and shelves and the rustic cupboard. The mixing game of modern and rustic elements continues in a successful way in the bedroom and bathroom as well.

Remember that you can also find me in Facebook & Twitter.

Earthy Colors

It is the right time to welcome autumn creating a warmer atmosphere in our homes, as the temperature day by day be reduced and we are spending much more time inside. A good choice is to add some big chunky pillows in your couch, as they are so warm and comfortable and put also some light rugs in the floor. The ideal colors of the accessories are the earthy tones which fit each other, creating a calm fall atmosphere.
I find great idea to mix and overlap different sizes of rugs and I like also the glass vases of different style and sizes, foul of twigs and veg from the garden.
Find another cozy living room here.
