Hillside Apartment

Located in London, this wonderful apartment was designed by Turner Pocock. Inspired by the large garden in front of the property and the natural light which invades from the enormous windows, the design based on a natural scheme with layers of green throughout, using a mix of new and old, luxurious and industrial furniture and fixings, creating a fresh eclectic interior...

Tainaron Blue Retreat

In the southernmost geographical point of mainland Europe, in the Cape Tainaron in Greece, a beautiful restored 19th century stone tower, has been transformed into a luxury traditional hotel which has lately opened its doors to the public.
It is situated in a unique place where the rough rocky landscape meets the tranquillity of the sea and the endless sky.
What I loved most about it, is its bold stone walls combined with cement surfaces, wood in its natural color and contemporary design furnitures.

Influenced by Japan

This house cought my eye by the first sight because of its peaceful simplicity.... I loved its open spaces with the white walls, the light wooden floors and the enormous openings which allow the sun rays invade inside and fill the space with warm, pure light! The furnishing and decoration are influenced by the Japanese architecture  and interior design aesthetic, resulting in a serene interior.

The evolution of a feta cheese tin in the years

Once upon a time, in a small country which its name is Greece, it was a humble blue and white little tin (tenekes) which was made to contain feta cheese or oil olive. Poor people, after have consumed its content, they were always finding a way to use this tin in their every day life as a useful object. The majority of them, loved to paint feta cheese tins in vivid colours and use them as flower pots on their white washed yards... Those repurposed pots was usually accommodate geranium, fragrant basils, marigolds and gardenias.
As the years passed, in this little country design and interior architecture were started to grown and this humble tin acquired personality and started to seek a leading position in everyday life. Many interior designers are infused by feta cheese tins and they use them in the decoration of commercial spaces, restaurants, cafe and bars, creating imaginative furnishings, decorative objects or lighting.  The biggest surprise however was when STUDIOLAV designed Atlas Shopper, a tin and leather tote bag, a really inspired object which could perfectly stand as a decorative object in our spaces....

Plan an Escape in...

....Sophia Suites, in Santorini. A recently renovated mansion, originally built more than 150 years ago, turned into a group of luxurious suites where everyone would dream to spend at least a couple of days! Its magnificent rooms and suites are really spacious and wonderfully decorated, combining the contemporary design with the traditional Cycladic architecture and decoration with some moroccan touches... Plus, it offers an uninterrupted volcano-sea view, which allows the visitor feel like "is flying" above this breathtaking view while he is enjoying his breakfast or sunbathing during the day. The visitor can complete the day by relaxing in the hot water of the private hot tub while he is enjoying a chilled glass of the world's awarded local wines watching the stars and the unique Santorinian moon reflected in the sea. The most dreamy spot of this amazing hotel is the indoor cave heated pool, with led lighting, of its honeymoon suite!
Oh... I really would like to spend my holidays there!!!

Upcycled Bicycle Chain Chandeliers

"You can make beautiful things from unlikely materials", says Carolina Fontoura Alzaga the artist behind the Facaro who makes magnificent bicycle chain chandeliers. Facaro's latest CONNECT series, features traditional style chandeliers made from upcycled bicycle parts. The contrast of classic elegance and mechanical bike parts is visually interesting and also questions an object previously associated with wealth and power.
Each bicycle chain chandelier is unique. Caroline hand makes each piece beginning with sourcing the bicycle parts from junkyards and dumpsters around Los Angeles, to cleaning the pieces to hand assembling the chandelier during the 2-8 weeks production process.

Black apartment with white hues

Could you ever live in a totally black apartment? I generally love dark colors but I couldn't imagine I could live in a space painted in black color until I first saw this overall black apartment! Especially the kitchen caught my attention...The combination of the white counter and its black surrounding is just perfect and those black handmade tiles are really lovely!!!

Family Loft in Brooklyn

A family in Brooklyn converted a newly former factory in Dumbo, into a loft that had everything its owners wanted, like a sleek, open air modern kitchen. By combining contemporary with vintage design and adding some whimsical objects, like the colorful bowls in the kitchen's shelves or some all time classic pieces, like the mirrors or the piano with the silver candleholders, the owners achieved to create a vibrant living space for their family that reflects their own personal taste!

Here everything is for sale!

Many hotels allow you to buy the bathrobes, but how you feel when you hear that everything in this hotel is for sale? The only thing you cannot buy here is the building itself!!!
So, if you 'll go to Items B&B in Belgium and you are madly in love with an original furniture from the 50's or 80's signed by Verner Panton, Arne Jacobsen or Charles and Ray Eames, you have the opportunity to buy them. It's a brilliant idea!!! Each time you will visit this hotel, nothing will reminds you, your previous visit, as everything will be different...

Mixing Styles

Mixing different styles is my best... and this is a really good example of what I mean!!! An industrial space constructed by red brick walls and cement floor is equiped with a vintage Papa Bear Chair and its ottoman (a classic piece designed by Hans Wegner in 1954) paired with a tribal side table and a deep red kelim rug which gives life to the room... The result is a unique space with strong "personality" where a lot of us could like to live!

Scandinavian Apartment with Mid Century Touches

An old apartment in Stockholm was fully renovated by its owners who achieved to transform it into a totally modern one while respecting the original features... According to the Scandinavian design all the surfaces (walls, floor, ceiling, kitchen cabinets) are painted in white while there are a lot of furniture, accessories and fabrics in black. Some interesting additions of Mid Century touches, as the two sofas in the living room and the small wooden showcase, give the air of another era in the apartment. What I love also about this home is the art wall created in the long white wall in black & white designs and then the existence of small pots with plants almost everywhere!

Round Windows

A totally modern home in design can seem so cozy... I love the twin round, tube like windows which have been transformed into a super duper comfortable nook for relaxation while you can gazing at the garden or enjoying the warmth of the central round fireplace, during the cold months of the year!

Stylish family home in Hamburg

A couple live with its son in this two-level home in Hamburg, Germany. As they are fans of the '60s design, they decorated their home combining contemporary pieces with vintage finds. They also achieved to salvage the oak floors to the whole house, which are originals from 1967. On the other hand, they choose a totally contemporary kitchen in black matte color which creates an interesting contrast with the vintage floor and the walls' absolute white. The pieces I love most in this house are the black Eames chairs of the dinning and the white one in the home office as well as the Tom Dixon's pendant lights... I really would like a set of them in my dinning room!!! And finally what about this unique in design cradle in the nursery?

A Serene Loft

Today, we are going to visit the loft of a yoga teacher in Belgium. Influenced by her work Elsie, the loft owner, chose natural materials in her loft's decoration, in order to create a cozy and warm space! Wood dominates in all spaces; both on the floor and in furniture, always in its natural color so as to bring to our mind connotations by nature... The color used in the majority of spaces is the white and off-white. The only room painted in dark color is the loft's entryway and the bedroom, where the sweet and natural color of chocolate makes the room totally atmospheric and offers a calm and cozy environment to relax and sleep peacefully. The use of white leather couch, daybed and white plastic Panton chairs, give a modern touch to the Country Chic environment that the raw wooden furniture create. In general, the atmosphere is as calm and relaxed as in a yoga studio... You can swinging in the hammock, listening music, wafting from the bottom. Exactly what someone needs for a harmonious life!!!

San Giorgio Mykonos Hotel

San Giorgio Mykonos is a member of the Design Hotels that represents the most beautiful, original and luxurious hotels of the world... It is about a small paradise where you can spend your holidays relaxing in its wonderful spaces which reminds more a friend's summer house than a hotel.
It is constructed according Cycladic architecture and decorated in a Bohemian Chic style in order to make the visitor feel like home...
White washed walls help sun rays brighten the internal spaces of the hotel and give the impression of freedom and freshness. I like so much the white built in beds and sofas covered with crispy linens and pillows embroidered with colored traditional motifs which give a vivid touch to the rooms! Ethereal mosquito nets enfold beds in order to protect you from the insects and offer a more romantic atmosphere while Moroccan decorative items give an exotic touch...

Folder: Living Room

An industrial space can easily be transformed into a modern residence... White washed brick walls, enormous windows and cement floor consist the perfect background of a comfortable living room decorated in black and grey hues so as to fit perfectly with the industrial style of the space. What I loved most in this room is the stone coffee table and the amazing pebbles carpet!!!
