The Whole World In Your Wall

Who isn't fascinated by a world map? Personally, I like them so much, notably the vintage ones! Maybe because they suggest faraway places, new experiences and they allow me to dream about my future travels.
Wall-size maps come in a variety of colors and styles so as to fit in every decoration style and every room.... And if you are a talented DIYer, why don't you try to paint one by yourself? It would be unique!!!

Nursery

What a divine nursery! If you are a fan of vintage it is the best way to decorate your baby's room... I love the combination of the pink vintage crib with the green rocking Eames chair.
I found this lovely crib in sale, in the online French shop "Les Enfants du Design".

Private Residence in Hydra

Today, we take the ferry from Piraeus to Hydra, the jewel of the Saronic Gulf, an island with a rich maritime tradition and cosmopolitan character, which gathers a large number of visitors thanks to its wonderful architecture and glorious history!
Main feature of Hydra is that there are no wheeled vehicles and movements are made only with donkeys, something that makes it even more picturesque.
The town consists a model of architecture and is built in an amphitheatrical way around its close natural harbor. Following the natural terrain, majestic mansions and traditional houses with flower filled gardens and high walls gaze up the harbor and reveal the glorious past of the island's capital.

Winery Guest House

In the Hourglass vineyards in the Napa Valley, an old farmhouse oh the 1850's has been preserved by the owners in a very "gently" way. The interior of the house (both walls and floor) has been painted totally in white, helping it to be extremely bright. The decoration is as simple as a house in the countryside needs to be, mixing a lot of handcrafted pieces, with thrifty-shop finds and a lot of old furniture that was in the garage of the owners for ages!
I like the wood paneled walls of the living room and the dining (pictures 4 & 5), the stripped black & white rugs (pictures 4 & 5), the tolix chairs (picture 5), the bench in the master bedroom covered with the colorful strip rug (picture 6), the sheepskin throw and the rustic grainsack pillow which ornate the wrought-iron bed (picture 7) and finally the glass vases foul of hydrangeas in almost every room of the house.

Earthy Colors

It is the right time to welcome autumn creating a warmer atmosphere in our homes, as the temperature day by day be reduced and we are spending much more time inside. A good choice is to add some big chunky pillows in your couch, as they are so warm and comfortable and put also some light rugs in the floor. The ideal colors of the accessories are the earthy tones which fit each other, creating a calm fall atmosphere.
I find great idea to mix and overlap different sizes of rugs and I like also the glass vases of different style and sizes, foul of twigs and veg from the garden.

Retro flair in the House II

For another time, my favorite combination of handmade tiles which look like a patchwork of drawings and pastels, in a contemporary house. The designer didn't hesitate to use both indoors as well as outdoor.

Crochet Love

Mmm... I like so much this fluffy granny squares blanket! It reminds me the cushions that my grandmother used to make when I was kid. It is ideal to keep you warm the first days of autumn and an excellent decorative item for your bedroom giving it a retro touch.

The next days some other interesting crochet applications will follow...Stay tuned!

Black & White Inspiration

Oh, such a splash of design and inspiration in a small corner!!!
Despite the severity of  the black and white hues used here, the result is really unique. The total absence of color breaks by the colorful flower bouquet in the table and the presence of the gold inside the Tom Dixon's pendant lights (1.Beat Light Fat, 2.Beat Light Tall) which fit perfect to the space.

Do you like black & white combination? Take a look in this apartment... You will love it!!!

White Country Style House

Ohh... how wonderful house is this! A really beautiful grade II listed 17th century, situated directly on the wharf in Mousehole, Cornwall
I adore its spacious vaulted ceiling, wood floors and paneled interior, painted all of them in white and soft grey hues, which make the house so cozy and hospitable. My favorite space is the kitchen with the range cooker and my beloved smeg refrigerator. Then, in the lofty beamed living room the fluffy sofas and floor pillows dressed with linen are waiting for you to sit on them in order to relax, in that so friendly environment, decorated with unique pieces. I already imagine myself sitting in the sofa near the log burner, reading my favorite book or drinking a cup of tea with my friends during the winter, or sitting in the window recess, gazing the view in the hot summer months!!!

Find an apartment painted also in white and grey hues here.

Design: Grandeliers

Grandeliers are one kind of pendant lights or floor lamps made in Tasmania, Australia, designed by Loz Abberton, which can be customized through prints, dimensions and materials. Their unique and original design allows them to shape spaces through illumination and transform shadows in pieces of art.

A Family Retreat in Sydney

Today, I felt the need to make a long journey, but as it' s a little bit difficult to realize my dream now, I decided to make a cyber-travel with all of you to Australia in order to see the Waterfront House Coogee project.
Sydney-based studio MPR Design Group has designed this family retreat. Located on the coast of Australia, Randwick Coogee, the Waterfront House successfully combines the influence of powerful primitives with inserts of wood in its natural color, and simple in design furniture details.
Overlooking the ocean, the majority of the interior spaces are connected to the outdoor through large sliding doors, in order to create a comfortable transition from interior spaces to the inviting outdoor entertaining areas.
I like very much the wooden pergolas in patio and terraces, which are constructed from large trunks and poles, the floors and ceilings that are covered with wood, the bold white walls and the clever design of the stairway.

Learn the Alphabet

It is a good idea to place an interesting wallpaper, in our bedroom and use it as a head of our bed. Regarding to the wall behind the bed of the photo, we can paint it by ourselves, using the color we like as a background and writing then the alphabet, or the words we want.

Made in Sweden

This is an apartment in Sweden decorated by interior stylist Lotta Agaton for the housing exhibition Annedal 2012. It is a space foul of light which exhales serenity as looks like it is a part of a black and white film, as the only colors used there are white and different hues of grey. The color severity breaks with the use of wood in its natural color, in the floor and in some decorative details and the presence of an olive tree in almost every space of the apartment which gives a Mediterranean air.
I like so much the triple black round coffee table up to the hand made rug (1st and 2nd images), the stripped and zig zag cushions in the bed (3rd image) and the simplicity of the dexion's white library.
