Green Grey Bedroom

After having such a long time to publish anything on my blog (almost 9 months), I need to say a hello and wish you to have a happy new year!
For me, 2016 was one of the hardest years ever, with so many difficulties to face and  a few moments of endless happiness. Thanks God, those unique moments helped me to stand back on my feet and try  to  get a new start on my life...
New year found us in a new home, far away from the previous one, trying to organise our everyday life, to rearrange our stuff and of course to decorate our new lovely place.
I have almost finished with the decoration of the living room and now I am thinking what to do with our bedroom which is a spacious and bright room where I can play with colours and materials.
The colours I choose to use for our bedroom is the combination of the green grey and the off white, as is one of my beloved ones and coincidentally, green is the Pantone colour of the 2017.
The green grey hues are ideal for a bedroom as they provide a serene environment which is ideal for relaxation and a feeling of rejuvenation.

Tainaron Blue Retreat

In the southernmost geographical point of mainland Europe, in the Cape Tainaron in Greece, a beautiful restored 19th century stone tower, has been transformed into a luxury traditional hotel which has lately opened its doors to the public.
It is situated in a unique place where the rough rocky landscape meets the tranquillity of the sea and the endless sky.
What I loved most about it, is its bold stone walls combined with cement surfaces, wood in its natural color and contemporary design furnitures.

Each time I enter a bright place I possessed with a feeling of peace and tranquillity... It' s so nice to see the sun light invade the space and brighten every single nook while it creates wonderful shadows on the wall and the floor.
My dream is to have in the future a bright home with wide windows and a lot of indoor plants, as I feel that they give life in their surroundings with their vivid colors while they purify the air of the space...

Add some geometry on your Christmas tree

Last years, geometrical shapes such as rectangle, triangle, circle or diamond shape have invade into fashion, especially into the jewelry design. This year those shapes constitue a must in the Christmas decorations.
Inspired by the Finnish traditional Himmeli, which is an ornament made of straw and is hunging from the ceiling during Christmas season, geometrical ornaments are a wonderful alternative for a totally hipster decoration...

Whimsical kids' headboards

There are so many ways to decorate a kid's room in order to look unique! You can use fabulous wallpapers, amazing colour combinations, original in shape shelves, unique cushions & fluffy toys, wonderful crispy linens... But what about the bed? Will you add a common bed in your kid's room?
Personally, I adore those kids' beds with big whimsical headboards which are either painted in the kid's favourite theme/hero or those which look like a little country home...

Influenced by Japan

This house cought my eye by the first sight because of its peaceful simplicity.... I loved its open spaces with the white walls, the light wooden floors and the enormous openings which allow the sun rays invade inside and fill the space with warm, pure light! The furnishing and decoration are influenced by the Japanese architecture  and interior design aesthetic, resulting in a serene interior.

Happy shelves for the kid's room

Today, we'll deal with the decoration of the kid's room walls... It is an issue which concerns all parents, when they are in the process of decorating their little princess's (or prince) room!
The majority is looking for happy colors to paint the walls or whimsical wallparers to cover them... And then what? Personnaly, I find very interesting the use of little shelves or boxes painted in happy colors and filled with the kids' fluffy toys, books, frames with their photos, art or whimsical string lights. There is a big variety of designs and combinations to use, according to the space and the kids' needs...

DIY: Creating Art for Nursery

I 'm so happy this season, because one of my best friends is going to be mom for her third time in a few days... So, as this period I am on holidays, far away from professional obligations and I have a lot of free time,  I decided to make a special handmade gift for her baby boy! After some hours of thinking, I decided to create two little paintings which will decorate perfectly the wall above his crib
As he will be born in the end of the August, I chose to use two colours which reminds the Greek Summer! I painted the background with my favourite colour, which is nothing else but turquoise, the colour of the pure sea water. For the details I chose some shades of orange... Those who takes the sky the sunset hour!
The paintings' theme is the forest and the Indians... One of little boys' favourite theme! I designed the head of a little deer, an Indian tepee, some feathers and some arrows on balsa wood. Then I cut them and glued them on the canvas in order to create a kind of 3D result. The final step was to write on them some messages for their little owner, with my black markers.
The materials I used for this project was: two canvas frames of 20x20cm, a piece of balsa wood, acrylic colours and my  favourite markers.
