Located in London, this wonderful apartment was designed by Turner Pocock. Inspired by the large garden in front of the property and the natural light which invades from the enormous windows, the design based on a natural scheme with layers of green throughout, using a mix of new and old, luxurious and industrial furniture and fixings, creating a fresh eclectic interior... 

Upcycled Bicycle Chain Chandeliers

"You can make beautiful things from unlikely materials", says Carolina Fontoura Alzaga the artist behind the Facaro who makes magnificent bicycle chain chandeliers. Facaro's latest CONNECT series, features traditional style chandeliers made from upcycled bicycle parts. The contrast of classic elegance and mechanical bike parts is visually interesting and also questions an object previously associated with wealth and power. 

Each bicycle chain chandelier is unique. Caroline hand makes each piece beginning with sourcing the bicycle parts from junkyards and dumpsters around Los Angeles, to cleaning the pieces to hand assembling the chandelier during the 2-8 weeks production process.

Industrial yet so Cozy & Inviting House

This home is, essentially, one that embodies the romantic image of a life of elegant simplicity and comfort. Its use of organic combined with industrialist aesthetics of subtle brick walls and cool metal tones, invites you to seek a state of simplicity in which happiness is grounded not in the objects owned, but in the stress-free, cozy lifestyle the home elicits.

BRIKI Cafe

Briki Cafe (briki: Bree-kee, is the greek word for the coffee-pot where we are preparing greek coffee) opened in 2012 in the city of Veria in the north Greece. It is about an ultimate atmospheric space where you can enjoy a coffee or drink making in the same time a mind trip to another era under the watchful eye of a true diva...Maria Callas!!!

Greek architect Dimitris Koukoudis   designed the space combining successfully industrial with neoclassical style, creating a candy eye... a place where you feel like home!

On the one hand there is the red brick wall with the exposed metallic pipes and the concrete columns and on the other hand there are amazing architectural elements just like those of a neoclassical residence, as the plasterwork frames of the ceiling, the plasterwork decorations of the right wall, the semi-wood paneled wall and the all time classic black & white ceramic hand made tiles on the floor. 

Industrial Eye Candy

I really adore designing industrial spaces... They have patina, texture, they are filled with eclectic vintage findings and I feel that they exude a unique casual and comfortable feeling!

KOOK Osteria & Pizza

Kook Osteria & Pizzeria opened in 2012 in the town of Olgiata in the north Rome. The  unique design & decorative ideas of the Noses Architects founded by Mohamed Keilani & Luca Gasparini, has been created a restaurant with a rustic yet industrial style which makes the client feels more like home than in a restaurant! On the one hand the choice of old furnishings, leather Chesterfield couches, vintage decorative items, suspended chandeliers and a Bianchi bicycle on the wall and on the other hand the mix & match of  different materials like concrete, wood, old hand made tiles, metal & glass create a cozy space that offers an atmosphere of cool comfort with a touch of class... What I loved most about this restaurant was its centerpiece; a living olive tree encased in a paneled glass shell, paying homage to the fruit that is so important to the Italian cuisine! For me this is a place where I could spend a lot of hours starting with a lunch and leaving after many hours, late in the evening, having a wonderful time lounging with friends just like home!!!

Mixing Styles

Mixing different styles is my best... and this is a really good example of what I mean!!! An industrial space constructed by red brick walls and cement floor is equiped with a vintage Papa Bear Chair and its ottoman (a classic piece designed by Hans Wegner in 1954) paired with a tribal side table and a deep red kelim rug which gives life to the room... The result is a unique space with strong "personality" where a lot of us could like to live!

Folder: Living Room

An industrial space can easily be transformed into a modern residence... White washed brick walls, enormous windows and cement floor consist the perfect background of a comfortable living room decorated in black and grey hues so as to fit perfectly with the industrial style of the space. What I loved most in this room is the stone coffee table and the amazing pebbles carpet!!!

Folder: Dining Room

Those lovely handmade cement tiles fit perfectly with the rustic island and the industrial dining table... I like a lot the use of different in style chairs around the table in deep red and black color!!!

Folder: Kitchen

A kitchen which combines succesfully two different styles; the industrial with the country one! Red brick walls, metallic openings and raw wooden floor (constructed by long boards which look like reused crates) cuddle in a warm way the country style cabinets and the white wooden ceiling.

Folder Bedroom: Industrial Chic

I love this combination!!! An industrial space with red brick walls painted white, huge beams in the roof and exposed pipes in the wall, furnished with some eclectic pieces can be transformed into an elegant room with strong personality... Perfect!

HOME OFFICE: Industrial touch

A simple in design home working area, but so inspired that you feel you can spend there a lot of hours, even if you have finished your work. The red brick wall with the light construction by metal and plywood which is used as storage area, gives a magnificent industrial touch to the space! I like also the L-shaped plywood countertop which offers an enormous working space, ideal for all of us who are involved with design or handcrafts and we are in need of a lot of space....

Amazing Rural House

In French Dordogne, in the Aquitaine region, there is a wonderful rural housing that smells Spring, as its every single corner even the majority of furniture are painted in white.

In order to break the monochrome which is ruling and give some liveliness to the spaces, the owner has chosen to add some touches of extra vivid colors. He used bubblegum pink, blue and lime green to add a pop touch and some black combined with gold to give more elegance.

The "game" of mix and match of furniture (my loved one), pieces and materials of different styles and eras -industrial and avant-garde elements with some more classical lines- has an amazing and playful result. 

Kitchen: Raw & Rustic

Another rustic kitchen, as I know how much you like it, but this time is extremely different. It is designed in a modern basis, equipped with all stainless steel modern appliances but it is constructed with materials mentioning rustic, as rough raw planking for the cupboards and cement in the counter top and the floor as well. The rustic attitude strengthened by the marble sink and the wooden ceiling. The atmosphere becomes more dramatic with the use of black color in the walls, the old golden frame over the sink and the two industrial ceiling lights.

Majorca Country House

For another time we are going in Majorca, a place of Mediterranean where summers are hot and winters are mild, to see a beautiful house. The villa you can see in the photos was designed by the interior designer Mestre Paco, who achieved to create a space of living in a natural and very comfortable environment. 

The bold stone walls in the exterior punctuated by the traditional wooden shutters and create a fairytale setting. In the interior, stone walls and arches, white plaster, white wooden beams in the roof and the pebbles made floor in the entrance and the living room dominate, so the designer choose to decorate the house mixing some industrial design, with contemporary and eclectic pieces creating a wonderful result.

Restored Oil Mill in Majorca

It' s time to make a virtual trip to Majorca, in order to visit a wonderful rural home. During the ages, since the 1700's that is built, it was used firstly as an inn, then as a winery and an oil mill and finally was abandoned, until Architect Durval Dias Junior discovered it and decided to restore it, so as to give it back its lost glory, with a new use this time. A wonderful residence.

 

He absolutely respected the building and he tried to preserve the original stone, the staircase and the arches. The furnishings consists of newer pieces mixed with a vintage industrial touch. Black, white and red are combined perfect with a calm palette of natural colors and materials as wood, stone, iron and concrete.

Τα τελευταία χρόνια, έχει αλλάξει κατά πολύ η φιλοσοφία μας για τη σχεδίαση μιας κουζίνας. Δεν την αντιμετωπίζουμε απλά ως το χώρο που μαγειρεύουμε, αλλά ως τον πυρήνα του σπιτιού μας. Είτε είναι σε ξεχωριστό χώρο, είτε αποτελεί προέκταση του καθιστικού, αποτελεί σημείο για το οποίο ο μελετητής δίνει ιδιαίτερη σημασία και προσπαθεί να βρει λύσεις πρωτότυπες, που να κεντρίζουν το ενδιαφέρον και χρησιμοποιεί υλικά που πριν μερικά χρόνια ούτε που θα το φανταζόμασταν, ότι θα τα αντικρίζαμε στην κουζίνα ενός σπιτιού!
